Putting Effort and Being Lucky

I would rather be lucky than being good – that’s what I hear a lot of time…. I, on the contrary would like to be good than lucky.

Why the difference?

Being lucky is easy.  It doesn’t require much effort… or any effort.

You have to work to be good.  It doesn’t matter how talented… it takes some energy, some effort and time to be good… and much more, if you really want to be really good.

So why most people would want to be lucky?

That’s because it’s the easy path.  But, not the most reliable one.

It would be nice that you take it easy all day, not worrying that there is something coming up, not need to prepare… just show up for whatever, and bingo… you achieved your end result.

That would be nice.  No energy, no sweat and no time invested… and got what you want.

However, if you think about it… how many times does that happens?  Especially, how consistent it will happens?

Would you leave something important to chance of luck?

I hope not.

I believe that the more you invest into putting effort, the more chances you’ll be lucky.

For example, the more you prepare for a job interview,  the more effort you put on researching the business and the job position, the more you know… the better chance you’ll have to get that job… and the luckier you’ll get — since you could impress enough that you will be considered for other positions or for future positions.

I won’t say that putting all the effort will always be successful.  It’s not an absolute science.  But, it puts the odds on your side.

Luck is the same. It won’t always be successful.  But, the odds are not on your side.

In life, no matter what.  Don’t leave your happiness and success to luck.

You have to make your life work the way you want.  And to make it work, you’ll need to put energy, sweat and effort.

There are no shortcuts.  Once in a while you will get lucky.  But, luck will run out.  Make sure luck is on your side by putting effort.
